The Security Industry Authority is the licencing body for all security in England and Wales and will also cover Scotland from 2007. Skills for Security (formally SITO) is the awarding body for the security awards and now Abertay Training as a training centre run these national awards. Good security training is vital to all organisations and is now a requirement of law that all persons in the security iget qualified in basic job training for retail security leading to the Level 2 certificate in Retail Security with the course covering the following area:

- Alarms, Electronic Surveilance Systems and Points of Sale

- Patrols and Patroling Techniques
- Major Incidents
- Drugs (Optional)
This Course is run over a period of 2 days (15 hrs), Unit 2 to the full qualification (communication and conflict management) is run over 1 day (7.5 hrs). Total class contact time 3 days.
